Colonial Knot
Colonial knot. Emerge from the fabric, letting your thread lie to the right, and bring the tip of your needle under the thread so that it drapes from left to right over the needle. Use your free hand to pull the thread to the left and over the tip of the needle, creating an “8” shape with the thread. Begin to bring the needle back down through the fabric near the original hole, pulling the wrapped “8” to the fabric surface. Push the needle through the wrap and the fabric to complete the knot.
